Officially launched in the year 2013, Theosis Higher Institute is an institute of patristic and apostolic understanding founded by Prof. Shawn Smith. It is a revelatory educational program to restore to the church the apostolic and ancient church patristic vision of the Gospel.
The Greek word “Theopoiesis” shortened as “Theosis” is the word coined by the apostolic fathers to describe the mystery of our inclusion into the Life of God through our participation with Christ: we have become by Grace what God is by nature. The issue of salvation is theosis: theosis is the goal of our salvation.
The institute was founded out of the need for continuity, the need for Church doctrines to retrace their roots back to the first century.
The institute is dedicated to ministers who desire to understand the inheritance of our faith, that is the historic foundation of Christianity in order to recapture the apostolic and ancient church patristic vision of the Gospel.
It has as its focus academic research and systematic theology with a neo-patristic synthesis in the particular domain of the development of Christology in the nascent age of the Church, giving a firm foundation to ministers of the gospel in defense of the Faith in a pluralistic world. Fields of study also include Sociology Anthropology, Neurosciences, and Psychology, for a holistic comprehension of Theology.

At Theosis Higher Institute, we train the minds of students to question what they believe. This inculcates the inestimable value of willingness to adopt the mind of Christ by questioning why we believe what we believe. We seek to bring our students to the rediscovery of the vision and the purpose of our existence as humans and as Christians. Students are raised according to Pauline theology, which presents grace as the revelation of the Son of God in us.

Although students come from all walks of life, the institution was established with the prime focus to raise New Testament ministers with the theological and academic foundation for grace ministry. We redefine what it means to be in ministry, equipping both prospective and actual ministers of the Gospel with the tools necessary for ministry and the accurate knowledge of the Gospel to prepare them to face the 21st Century world.

Dr. Shawn Smith
Dr. Shawn Smith is a Professor of Sacred Theology and an ordained minister of the Gospel with the divine mandate to “present the revelation of Christ Jesus, the loveliness of His person and the perfection of His work, with excellence and clarity for the rising of the Glorious Church.” He is the apostolic overseer of Gospel of Christ Ministries (GCM), an ever-increasing network of churches, which he has established in every major city within the nation of Cameroon and across the world. Together with his wife Dr. Annie Smith, they shepherd a global church including the GCM Internet Fellowship, reaching 153 nations, and touching close to 300,000 families globally.
